i am void

by Evan Riley

An' truly, the thought fell to me--
A crushing vision of a better-been,
When light last falls on the dying life.
Meat and bone shredded by veracity,
Flesh and blood decayed by truth.
A singular impotence arises--
Feeble voice of a fading will.
A call to arms, a call of defeat.
An eye for an eye, circuitously feeding.
Subtle rampage of the mind;
Rapist of sanity and heart.
A new construction to worship,
Another reason for sacrifice.
Martyrs need not apply,
Avarice is indicative of divinity.
Swallowed whole and passed along--
Massication of thought and time.
Forever passing to the toilet, the mouth, the organa, pit of life.
Revolving, spiraling ever faster.
Renewing upon the locus.
Parasite of god-love, symbiote of god-hate.
A delicate ballet aped for eons.
Until, when the great light arrives,
All desired is attained.
The lack of void causes despair.
And light is ingested, incorporated, hated, denied.
A crippling yearning for the void,
Reunion of nothing and nothingness.
Tears scald my face in reprobation.
Beauteous paradox that i have become.
Smile alights, and the seared ruin blazes anew.
Life-blood flushes away the everything.
Sublimity is revealed!
Even adoration pales.
